Expert opinion : The Universal snaffle bit is a single jointedwith a pronounced anatomical shape. Its arched shape allows it to fit perfectly into your horse's mouth. It helps to optimise the distribution of pressure points in the mouth and reduces the risk of a "nutcracker" effect. The fineness of the central break limits any roughness that could be uncomfortable for the horse's tongue. This bit allows the independent actions of each rein, so that one shoulder can be pulled up more than the other.
This bit is interesting for horses that can defend themselves by raising their head because of discomfort linked to pinching, for example. It is also recommended for horses that are a little heavy in the hand and don't take charge naturally. The free rings offer a soft contact without leverage and make it easy to play with the fingers to relax the horse's forehand.
The Universal bit can be adjusted to provide leverage for better control. It has a lowering effect. The reins can be fixed to the bottom ring or attached with rings to the middle and bottom rings. It can also be used with a curb chain for action on the mandible.
Mouthpiece THICKNESS
*Unless mentioned in the options, the thickness of the barrel is :
Size (mm) | Barrel thickness (mm) |
< 115 | 12 |
115 - 130 | 14 |
> 130 | 16 |
Please note ! This bit is small, we advise you to take 1 size above.
Sweet iron : Sweet Iron alloy oxidizes in contact with the humidity of the mouth and the air. The oxidation brings a sweet taste that naturally stimulates the production of saliva. This corresponds to the effect of a sugar that is given to the horse at the beginning of the session but allows to diffuse this sweet taste throughout the work. Therefore, this alloy allows a good acceptance of the bit and helps the horse to make contact with the mouthpiece. The oxidation modifies the aspect of the bit during the sessions.
Caution : The central material (cable) is vulnerable and is not guaranteed by the manufacturer against wear and tear due to biting. We strongly advise against using a bit that is too damaged, as this could injure the horse's bars, tongue and palate.
