Expert opinion
Expert opinion : The straight barrel exerts direct pressure on the tongue and bars, while freeing the palate. The fact that it is straight ensures symmetrical left/right contact from the hand to the mouth and eliminates any risk of pinching the tongue. All these elements will help the horse to gain confidence in his mouthpiece, to settle down and stretch out, making it an ideal bit for a young horse. Leather is a natural material that is very pleasant for the horse, stimulating chewing and salivation. The supple barrel encourages the horse to tense up on the bit and put his hindquarters under it. The olive bit protects the commissures from any risk of pinching thanks to the fixed ring. It offers direct contact between the rider's hand and the horse's mouth. This helps the horse to make contact.
Material
Leather: Leather is a natural material that is very pleasant for the horse and stimulates chewing and salivation. It avoids the cold contact of certain metal bits. The production of saliva softens the leather and makes it more pleasant for the horse. The leather should be oiled approximately every 5 uses to maintain its suppleness. Fager leather bits are handmade to offer the best possible quality. The leather is hand-stitched around a nylon-covered thread. Fagers leather is vegetable tanned; no harmful chemicals or artificial colours are used. The horse's salivation softens the bit and makes it even more comfortable. The temperature of the bit adapts to that of the horse's mouth. This bit is particularly pleasant for horses in cold weather, as the bit maintains a warm temperature, unlike metals which are cold.
If the bit gets dry, we recommend soaking it in food-grade paraffin oil.
Make sure that the stitching points to the outside of the mouth and not against the mouthcorners.
Warning: The leather material is not suitable for horses that chew a lot on the bit. The bit is therefore not covered by warranty or right of complaint if the damage has occurred due to the horse biting the bit. We strongly advise against using a bit that is too damaged, as this could injure the horse's bars, tongue and palate.
